1 The bride’s brother, maternal uncles accompanied with their respective wives and a few close relatives goes to the groom’s house to welcome the groom for the marriage .
2.A thamboolam arranged
tastefully with beetal leaves,vettu or kali pakku (100g), velari manjal (100g),
3 coconuts cleaned and smeared with turmeric, 2 dozen banana, other fruits like
oranges, pomegranate can also be added to make it look grand . Along with
thseena kalkandu (big kalkandu),Kumkum vessel with pannerchembu, hand bouquet
with two garlands for the groom. Any sweet (prefered mysore pak or laddoo or badhusha) either 51 or101 nos placed in a vessel and covered with a yellow cloth must also be taken.
3. A suit which is optional can be gifted to the groom along with a sural (amount is of individual choice).
4. The groom is requested to sit facing the east and the members from the brides family honour / welcome the groom by spraying rose water, garlands and hands over the thamboolam.
5. The groom will receive the thamboolam only after getting the consent from his parents.
6. Milk and banana are offered to the groom.
7. Aarti is taken as a formality
8. The groom's family offers sandanam and Kumkum to all the guests.
9. The girls family usually gifts some jewels for the groom.
10.The groom’s family as a cordiality serves some snacks and coffee for the guests.
11. The brides brother accompanies the groom to the marriage hall/mandappam.
12. Upon arrival Aarti is taken and the groom is welcomed and offered a glass of milk and a banana
