Pre Nuptial arrangements

 1. On the finalization of the wedding day on an auspicious day the following have to be freshly purchased and arranged before the deity at home . 100g pakku(vet or kali) ,100g turmeric(veleri) with beetal leaves and a dozen banana . The pooja should be performed in accordance to tradition .
2. An archanai can be performed in the temple on the same auspicious day .
3. A vastaram for pilliyar and the family deity. For other deities is up to once preferences.
4. The prior arrangements of utmost importance are

  •   Finalizing a marriage hall
  •   The priest as in an Iyer or a Kurukalya .
  •   catering
  •   invitation for wedding and reception
  •   Flowers for decoration and the Wedding
  •   The addresses of all relatives and friends are to be collected .

6. Prior to the wedding according to convenience the brides family conduct the Pandakal and from the groom ‘s family the ponnu urukku vithgal is conducted
7. The grooms family should purchase the thirumangalam, thirumangalam chain and one ring for the bride and one ring for the bride’s brother.
8. From the groom side two pattu dhoti,shirt and angavastaram for muthuram and nichayathartham(engagement) is bought for the groom.
9. From the groom side, 3 saris are gifted for the bride.: muthuram, nichayathartham ,kalparrupu. They should gift one saree for the girl’s sister.
10. From the girl’s side one ring for the groom, one set of dhoti,shirt, angavastaram and one saree for the olisai is purchased for the bride and groom

Pillai Mattruthal

Pillai Matrudal and other rituals    In a   Thamboolam place a silk cloth (red or yellow).   A small statue of Lord Krishna   in a crawling position should be placed alongside the cloth.        The immediate family members of the bride and the groom place some personal jewels on the Thamboolam        This thamboolam will be exchanged by the bride and groom thrice. The newly wed is made to hold a handful of raw rice with a raw banana. The kappu and the raw banana are cut by an elderly member or the priest.
